The Sequoia Project, a nonprofit focused on health IT interoperability, is chartering a new workgroup on information blocking for its public-private cooperative, Interoperability Matters.
The Sequoia Project runs eHealth Exchange, a query-based health information network, and Carequality, an interoperability framework. It launched Interoperability Matters last October to pinpoint the biggest roadblocks to interoperability and begin to address them.
The information-blocking workgroup will discuss, evaluate and comment on the information-blocking aspects of the ONC's proposed rule to improve healthcare interoperability. The workgroup is open to private- and public-sector participation.
"We've reached a tipping point where discussions of interoperability — and the remaining interoperability challenges — are now mainstream and everyone wants a seat at the table. We're happy to make room for more voices," Mariann Yeager, CEO of the Sequoia Project, said in a press release.
