Pagosa Springs Medical Center earned stage 7 on the eight-stage HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model, which measures the degree to which a hospital or health system uses its EMR functions. Roughly 6.5 percent of U.S. hospitals have reached stage 7, which represents the highest designation.
Pagosa Springs Medical Center officials said the facility represents the smallest independent hospital to achieve stage 7 recognition. The critical access hospital comprises 11 inpatient beds, seven emergency department beds, ancillary services and an outpatient rural health clinic.
The organization’s hospital and rural health clinic have worked on the Cerner Millennium EHR since 2014.
