Ochsner will integrate the PDMP information using Appriss Health’s PMP Gateway solution, a managed service that enables access to data, analytics and resources. The integration will allow Ochsner clinicians access a patient’s prescription drug history within their Epic EHR, as opposed to logging into a separate website for the information. It also provides clinicians access to multistate PDMP data.
“We know that Louisiana is the sixth-highest opioid prescribing state in the U.S.,” said Richard D. Guthrie, Jr., MD, chief quality officer at Ochsner Health System. “However, this is not a ‘do not prescribe project.’ This is about best managing our patients, their pain and mitigating their risk. We trust that this critical initiative can and will effectively improve and save lives across all of the communities that we serve.”
The PMP Gateway solution is being used in 32 states. Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia have implemented statewide programs that utilize PMP Gateway to integrate PDMP data into clinical workflow.
