The pilot project will help Ochsner clinicians predict which drugs will work best for individual patients based on genetics, according to a July 21 news release.
By adding the decision support tool to the EHR, prescribing physicians will be alerted if a drug is likely to be ineffective, cause an adverse reaction or need a dosing change based on the patient’s genetics.
