Under the program, nicknamed “Happy Together,” Novant Health and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center will share patient information through Epic’s patient portal, called MyChart. Prior to Jan. 14, patients with providers at Novant Health and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center had a separate MyChart account for each health system.

More than 6,700 patients had their information shared between the two systems in the first week “Happy Together” went live.

Novant Health officials said they plan to expand the data-sharing effort to other health systems on the Epic platform.

“‘Happy Together’ for MyChart will allow patients to combine data from the two systems into a single view to improve their understanding of medications, lab results, plan of care and follow-up appointments,” Keith Griffin, MD, chief medical information officer of Novant Health, told the Winston-Salem Journal.
