Montana invests $20M in healthcare info exchange

Montana recently made a big investment in its statewide health information exchange.

The state is dedicating $20 million to designing, developing and implementing its Big Sky Care Connect system, according to a May 20 news release.

More than half of Montana's hospital systems and 75 medical provider organizations are signed onto the statewide exchange, encompassing about 350 locations.

The state connected its Medicaid claims system in November, and Big Sky Care Connect is working to add other payers and 40 medical providers.
