The launch, which will take place Sept. 30, is the second phase of the EHR rollout that started at other MidMichigan Health locations in April. A third phase will extend the rollout to MidMichigan Home Care in spring 2018.

MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena integrated with MidMichigan Health and the Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan 18 months ago. With the Epic EHR deployment, the medical center will be brought onto the same platform for registration, scheduling and billing as other MidMichigan Health facilities. Additionally, MidMichigan Health-employed physicians in Alpena will be able to access patient records across the MidMichigan Health network.

“It puts consistent, shared information at the fingertips of our patients and providers for safer, more collaborative decision-making,” said Dan Waltz, CIO at MidMichigan Health. “It reduces the time to look up information and complete documentation, which improves provider productivity and satisfaction and lets them spend more time with patients. A single system will also be less costly to maintain, helping us to keep costs down for our patients over time.”
