How Allscripts is helping NHS hospitals treat COVID-19 patients

As National Health Service hospitals in the U.K. prepare to expand care to an increasing amount of COVID-19 patients, several hospitals have ramped up their IT hardware and infrastructure, according to Dr. Anna Bayes, Allscripts UK medical director.

In a recent company blog post, Dr. Bayes highlighted two NHS Hospitals that managed to complete existing IT projects during the pandemic. Bolton NHS Foundation Trust continued rolling out its new mobile function for its community pediatric services software, and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust activated its Allscripts Sunrise electronic patient record nursing documentation platform at Gloucester and Cheltenham hospitals.

Allscripts completed updates to its Sunrise EPR platform critical care documents to help clients ensure COVID-19 data on inpatient and high-acuity beds is recorded consistently.

Other NHS hospitals including Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital have altered documentation templates to better support recording symptom onset and standard respiratory support requirements.

"We are working with our clients to share their newly configured content together with COVID-19-specific content and decision support rules built by Allscripts so that all sites have access to these tools," Dr. Bayes wrote.
