Epic donation supports WVU Medicine's cancer programs, families of sick children

Epic donated funds to support Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine's mobile cancer screening programs and sick children's fund.

Epic's funds will be distributed to three of WVU Medicine's programs that aim to reduce the cancer burden in West Virginia and help families with sick children, according to a May 9 press release.

Two things to know:

  1. Epic's funds will go toward Bonnie's Bus, WVU Medicine's mobile mammography unit and LUCAS, a mobile lung cancer screening unit, offering low-dose computed tomography scans.

  2. Epic's donation will also support WVU Medicine's Compassion, Caring and Comfort Fund, which provides short-term assistance to families of WVU Medicine Children's patients. The funds are often used for gas cards to cover travel costs between home and the hospital, overnight accommodations for families that do not live close to the hospital, cafeteria or restaurant gift cards, and payment assistance for monthly bills.

Epic's donation amount was not disclosed.
