Epic’s App Orchard serves as an online marketplace for third-party developers to showcase pre-approved reporting, visualization and content apps that run on Epic’s software infrastructure. Through the App Orchard, Epic’s hospital clients can now access Health Navigator’s NLP engine to identify and prioritize patients’ chief complaints.

Health Navigator designed its NLP engine to function as a physician or nurse would during a patient’s intake process, converting the patient’s dialogue into relevant medical information for use by telemedicine companies and digital health applications. The NLP engine also generates lists of possible causes for a patient’s symptoms and makes care recommendations.
