Three things to know:

1. Physicians will be able to submit prior authorization requests at the point of prescribing while using DrChrono’s EHR. They would then receive electronic determinations through CoverMyMeds.

2. CoverMyMeds will also provide clinicians using DrChrono’s EHR with live phone and chat support for electronic prior authorization.

3. DrChrono will also gain access to CoverMyMeds’ medication decision support platform, RxBenefit Clarity. The platform uses the patient’s insurance information, such as copay and deductible, to find the most accurate prescription price information when the provider is writing the prescription.

“The DrChrono team believes that getting accurate information about what medications are covered, and at what pricing, during the point of care is paramount,” DrChrono COO and Co-founder Daniel Kivatinos said in a news release. “Patients should know what is covered and how much a medication will cost before leaving the doctor’s office to pick it up at the local pharmacy, and CoverMyMeds is enabling this within DrChrono.”
