CFO departures, earnings reports, VA troubles: How Oracle Cerner made headlines in December

From their CFO leaving, to a strong Cerner earnings report, to continued troubles with the Department of Veterans Affairs EHR rollout, here are six headlines showcasing what Oracle Cerner has done since Dec. 5:

  1. Oracle's recently acquired Cerner business unit generated $1.5 billion for Oracle in the second quarter of 2022.

  2. CFO Mark Erceg announced he is leaving the company to become CFO of consumer-product maker Newell Brands.

  3. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs plans to hire 1,000 IT workers to help implement its Oracle Cerner EHR rollout. 

  4. The tech giant is moving its annual conference from Kansas City, Mo., to Las Vegas. 

  5. Fairfield, Calif.-based NorthBay Health integrated an early warning algorithm within its Oracle Cerner EHR system, leading to a 16 percent decrease in mortality rate.

  6. Staff at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center, in Spokane, Wash., are expressing frustration with implementing the Oracle Cerner EHR system.
