American Cancer Society, West Virginia U use EHRs to match patients with clinical trials

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is partnering with Morgantown-based West Virginia University and CodeX to create a new button within EHRs that would recommend relevant clinical trials, local news outlet ABC4WOAY reported April 5.

The “Blue-button” study aims to diversify clinical trials by integrating trial matching services into a clinician’s workflow. The service uses a third-party database of clinical trials to ensure patients’ options are not limited to a single institution.

The study will run for 12 months.
