Allscripts rebrands payer, life sciences business

Allscripts has rebranded its payer and life sciences division under the name "Veradigm."

Veradigm will continue the division's work developing solutions that link Allscripts' provider network more closely with health insurers and pharmaceutical companies to address various industry challenges, such as collecting real-world patient data.

Allscripts quietly has been building up its work in the payer and life sciences areas recently, expanding its leadership team with four new hires. In early November, Allscripts CEO Paul Black hinted at the division's growing importance for the company while discussing its earnings results for the third quarter of 2018.

"Looking ahead, we believe we will continue to benefit from the investments we have made in building out a complete solution set for our clients in both the acute and ambulatory sectors, as well as our unique offering in the payer and life sciences business," Mr. Black said at the time.

Veradigm is led by Tom Langan, former CEO of Practice Fusion, an EHR provider Allscripts acquired for $100 million earlier this year.

"Veradigm is committed to improving healthcare and affecting positive change for patients by delivering data-driven insights and the advanced tools needed to act on them," Mr. Langan said. "We have worked extensively with leaders from all walks of healthcare to better understand their changing needs and to deliver solutions that create value."
