HMH officials, stressing that there are no plans to close the Huntsville hospital, said the closure is merely a realignment of business strategy. Additionally, officials cited a trend of medical service consolidation across the U.S. and said this activity highlighted the need to minimize cost structure to support revenue generation as reimbursement rates decline.
HMH officials believe the closure is necessary to give more resources to the hospital.
