Memphis VA launches investigation after veteran's 'health worsened' in ER

The Memphis VA is investigating a veteran's condition after his health appeared to decline while waiting in the hospital's emergency room the week of Dec. 18, according to a FOX13 report.

The VA confirmed the veteran was in the ER's waiting room as his "health condition appeared to have gotten worse."

"The Memphis VA Medical Center is communicating with the veteran's family and following the veteran's progress," said David Dunning, Memphis VA director. "We are currently conducting an internal review and will take appropriate action if warranted."

FOX13 is working to confirm the veteran's identity and current condition. FOX13 is also working to learn the VA's plans to address the incident.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
