Hospital staff said the Minncare Cold Sterilant spill occurred around 6 a.m. and one employee was splashed with the product. The employee was decontaminated and treated in the ER. During the clean-up, the ER was on temporary diversion.

Less than one gallon of the chemical was spilled, and the spill was contained to one room. Hospital officials said there was no hazard outside the contained room.

Houston police, firefighters and hazmat personnel were called to clean the room around 9 a.m.
