Apple is ramping up its healthcare ambitions with plans to launch an AI-driven health service and an overhauled Health app, Bloomberg reported March 30.

The initiative, dubbed “Project Mulberry,” includes an AI-powered health coach designed to provide personalized wellness guidance. The technology will analyze health data collected from iPhones, Apple Watches and third-party devices to offer tailored recommendations.

Apple is training the AI model with input from in-house physicians and aims to collaborate with external experts in sleep, nutrition, mental health and cardiology. These specialists will produce educational videos to help users understand health conditions and lifestyle modifications. For instance, if the system detects concerning heart rate trends, it may prompt users to watch a video explaining potential cardiovascular risks.

To support the project, Apple plans to open a facility near Oakland, Calif., where physicians will film video content for the platform. The company is also searching for a prominent doctor to serve as the face of the service.

The effort is led by Sumbul Desai, MD, Apple’s vice president of health, with significant involvement from Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams.Development is ongoing, and the service could debut as early as iOS 19.4, which Bloomberg reports is slated for release in spring or summer 2026.
