Amazon One Medical has rolled out an AI chatbot that automatically connects to patient health records.
The hybrid primary care company said Health AI, which is now live for One Medical’s members on its app, helps answer health questions, schedule appointments and manage medications, and can triage patients to a virtual or in-person visit if needed, according to a Jan. 21 news release.
Amazon’s offering is the latest healthcare AI assistant, joining the likes of ChatGPT for Health and Claude for Healthcare. But the tech giant says its tool is unique in that patients don’t have to upload medical records from elsewhere.
The company said the tool was built with the help of Amazon One Medical clinical leaders and used Amazon Web Services’ Bedrock large language models. Patients can still access the old version of the One Medical app, and Amazon said their conversations aren’t stored in their medical records and no health data is ever sold.
Amazon One Medical partners with health systems in several markets on specialty care referrals.
