3 healthcare AI projects Google is working on

Greg Corrado, senior research director at Google, said the company sees healthcare as one of the greatest industries where artificial intelligence could provide real value, Politico reported March 2.

Here are three healthcare AI projects Google is working on:

  1. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is working in collaboration with India's Apollo Hospitals and the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia to see if artificial intelligence can screen for tuberculosis.

  2. Google has licensed three healthcare algorithms that aim to detect breast cancer, lung cancer and gene mutations.

  3. Google is collaborating with precision medicine and health data company Verily to develop a machine-learning algorithm that can detect progressive blood vessel damage. The algorithm has already been tested in India and Thailand and has produced promising results, according to the report.
