Molina Healthcare opens social determinants-focused innovation center

Molina Healthcare launched a new center in Columbus, Ohio, dedicated to developing innovative programs and services to address social determinants of health, the Long Beach, Calif.-based organization announced Jan. 30.

The National Molina Healthcare Social Determinants of Health Innovation Center will identify community factors creating barriers to care, then partner with healthcare providers and other local and national organizations to find solutions to those challenges.

The innovation center's initiatives will include collecting and analyzing Molina members' social determinants data; tracking social service interventions; developing programs to advance health outcomes on a national scale; and building a database of member outcomes to refine the organization's social determinants strategy.

"As an organization that prides itself on its regional focus and partnerships, Molina looks forward to applying SDOH best practices across our nationwide footprint to benefit all the local communities we serve," Jason Dees, DO, CMO of Molina Healthcare, said in the announcement. "The innovation center will closely collaborate with and support our local and national partners, as we look to identify, test, implement and scale best practices throughout our service areas."
