Twitter users report loss of followers after Musk takeover

Some Twitter users have reported that their follower counts have dropped since Elon Musk took over the company, Newsweek reported.

Among those posting about the loss of followers were actor Mark Hamill, Yale University history professor Joanne Freeman, PhD, journalist Aaron Rupar and comedian Ginny Hogan, according to the Oct. 28 story.

"Another day of losing followers and asking: is it something I'm doing or something Elon is doing," Ms. Hogan tweeted.

Mr. Musk took the reins of the social media platform in late October after acquiring it in a $44 billion deal. He has complained about the proliferation of spam and bots on the site, as well as what he said are its censorious policies.

Twitter didn't respond to the news outlet's request for comment.
