Oceanside, Calif.-based Tri-City Medical Center officially became Sharp Tri-City Medical Center on July 1 as San Diego-based Sharp HealthCare assumed operations of the hospital.
Under the agreement, Sharp assumed Tri-City’s assets and liabilities and plans to transform the hospital into an acute care and clinical services hub for North County.
Sharp has also committed to investing about $100 million to help stabilize the hospital’s finances, which have deteriorated since the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of the transition, Tri-City employees in good standing became Sharp Tri-City Medical Center employees on July 1 and retained their existing roles and responsibilities, according to the hospital’s website.
