The campaign, in partnership with nonprofit Ad Council, will use social media to address the overdose crisis and to give people resources to navigate the dangers of illicit drugs and aid in substance use recovery, according to a May 16 press release.

Big Tech companies will donate media space as well as the development and distribution of content designed for teens and young adults to educate them about fentanyl.

“There is so much that people don’t know about the substances they are using, including fentanyl, along with their potentially catastrophic effects,” said Lisa Sherman, president and CEO of the Ad Council. “Through these new campaigns, the Ad Council is taking on one of the biggest issues facing our nation to bring lifesaving awareness directly to those who need it.”

Big Tech and the Ad Council will also partner with digital content creators and influencers to create initiatives designed to reach young people on platforms where they spend much of their time.

The campaign is set to launch this summer.
