Saint Joseph Health’s hospitals and other facilities in Kentucky have adopted the CommonSpirit Health name, according to a July 29 Facebook post from CommonSpirit — Kentucky.
The Lexington, Ky.-based system is now operating under the CommonSpirit name across its Kentucky facilities, which include:
— CommonSpirit — Saint Joseph Hospital — Lexington
— CommonSpirit — Saint Joseph Medical Center — East Lexington
— CommonSpirit — Saint Joseph Hospital — Bardstown
— CommonSpirit — Saint Joseph Hospital — Berea
— CommonSpirit — Saint Joseph Hospital — London
— CommonSpirit — Saint Joseph Hospital — Mount Sterling
— CommonSpirit — Continuing Care Hospital (Lexington locations)
The hospitals also adopted the Saint Joseph Hospital name to honor Lexington’s first hospital and a legacy established by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, according to the Facebook post.
The system’s eighth location, in Nicholasville, Ky., also adopted the CommonSpirit name and will be known as CommonSpirit — Saint Joseph Outpatient Care Center — Nicholasville, according to a July 29 news release shared with Becker’s. The facility, which operates as a department of CommonSpirit — Saint Joseph Hospital — Lexington, is Jessamine County’s only full-service, 24/7 emergency room. In addition, the Saint Joseph Medical Group will be known as CommonSpirit Medical Group.
“While our signs will change, what will never change is our commitment to building healthier communities,” Matt Grimshaw, Kentucky market president for CommonSpirit, said in an April 29 news release announcing the planned rebrand. “Our commitment across Kentucky will continue to be providing the highest quality of care for our family, friends and neighbors with human kindness and compassion.”
Saint Joseph Health became part of CommonSpirit when Catholic Health Initiatives merged with Dignity Health in 2019. CommonSpirit has been rebranding its regional systems under the parent name in recent years. CommonSpirit in Kentucky operates nearly 100 locations across 15 cities, serving patients in 35 counties, according to its website.
