Mass General Brigham, YouTube partner on AI-powered content creation

YouTube is partnering with content creators including Mass General Brigham to make health information available to more people through artificial intelligence.

YouTube and Mass General Brigham are using an AI-powered language dubbing tool to translate the Somerville, Mass.-based health system's content on the video platform into Spanish and Portuguese. YouTube said more languages and partners are to come via the AI tool from Aloud, a YouTube subsidiary that was incubated at its parent company, Google.

"Our goal with the pilot is to take the learnings and responsibly scale Aloud with health partners, so that they can more efficiently reach global audiences with critical health information at no cost," said Garth Graham, MD, director and global head of healthcare and public health for YouTube, in a Sept. 7 news release. "At YouTube, we believe that information is a key determinant of health. We're taking important actions to address health information disparities, and remain committed to growing an accessible and equitable health content ecosystem on our platform for viewers and creators alike."

YouTube has been collaborating with more health systems in recent years to increase the availability of quality health content on the platform. Other partners include Cleveland Clinic Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
