CDC launches WhatsApp chat to boost vaccinations among Spanish speakers

The CDC rolled out a new WhatsApp chat June 21 to provide reliable information about COVID-19 vaccines in Spanish, NBC News reported.

The chat is called “Mi Chat Sobre Vacunas COVID” and can be accessed via a link or QR code. Once users type “hola,” WhatsApp presents a menu of options including information about COVID-19 vaccines’ development, potential side effects, local vaccinations sites and transportation to appointments.

As of June 14, 36 percent of Latino Americans have gotten vaccinated against COVID-19, compared to 45 percent of white Americans, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.
