Cambridge, Mass.-based Beth Israel Lahey Health has signed a multiyear partnership with the Boston Bruins that names the health system the team’s official healthcare partner.
The partnership will include health and wellness initiatives, community events and youth hockey programming involving the Bruins and the health system, according to a Sept. 17 news release.
Beth Israel Lahey Health will serve as presenting sponsor of the Bruins’ annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night, an initiative supporting cancer research and educating fans about cancer risks.
The organizations also plan to hold youth hockey clinics in communities served by Beth Israel Lahey Health and expand the Bruins’ Learn to Play program, which introduces children ages 5 to 9 to hockey. Participating families receive hockey equipment and four weeks of on-ice instruction from certified coaches and Bruins alumni.
The partnership will also include visits to Beth Israel Lahey Health hospitals and events featuring Bruins players, coaches, alumni and team mascot Blades.
“BILH and the Bruins share a commitment to teamwork, excellence and our communities, and we look forward to our new partnership,” Beth Israel Lahey Health President and CEO Kevin Tabb, MD, said in the release. “Together, we will work to engage patients and their families through health education and other local initiatives to help create healthier communities, one person at a time.”
Beth Israel Lahey Health serves 2.1 million patients across eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. The health system includes 14 hospitals, more than 100 primary care practices, ambulatory and behavioral health facilities, urgent care centers and other sites.
