Many states’ COVID-19 vaccine information websites have accessibility shortcomings, according to an analysis published May 26 in JAMA Network Open.

In February, researchers examined each state’s website on COVID-19 vaccine information and availability. Below are five of the main accessibility issues they found:

  1. Only presenting information in English
  2. Not enabling complete smartphone viewability
  3. Presenting information in a way that requires a post-high-school reading level for comprehension
  4. Not indicating when information was last updated
  5. Requiring users to search multiple sites on their own for an appointment
