5 things that make vaccine information websites inaccessible

Many states' COVID-19 vaccine information websites have accessibility shortcomings, according to an analysis published May 26 in JAMA Network Open.

In February, researchers examined each state's website on COVID-19 vaccine information and availability. Below are five of the main accessibility issues they found:

  1. Only presenting information in English

  2. Not enabling complete smartphone viewability

  3. Presenting information in a way that requires a post-high-school reading level for comprehension

  4. Not indicating when information was last updated

  5. Requiring users to search multiple sites on their own for an appointment
