Sarasota Memorial’s affiliation with Columbia’s Division of Cardiac Surgery will provide access to the cardiac surgery faculty and researchers at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons for case consultation. Sarasota Memorial will also have access to Columbia University’s teaching and research initiatives and clinical trials.
In addition, Sarasota Memorial will be able to coordinate access to Columbia University Medical Center for Sarasota Memorial patients who require procedures not normally performed at the hospital, such as pediatric heart surgery and heart transplants.
Columbia University Medical Center will also provide guidance to Sarasota Memorial as it plans to open a new hybrid operating room and a new valve center.
