Cedars-Sinai's 3 pillars for AI strategy

Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai has embraced artificial intelligence for clinical and operational applications. The system built it's AI strategy on three foundational pillars:

1. Investing and planning
2. Transitioning innovation into adoption
3. Supporting sound, ethical use of new technology

In an Aug. 14 news release, Cedars-Sinai outlined how it's deploying the three pillars. Cedars-Sinai is investing in new technology, infrastructure and services to enhance systemwide AI literacy. The system is also using AI within the clinical research space to solve "critical, real-world healthcare challenges" and integrating AI discoveries into clinical practice faster than before.

Finally, Cedars-Sinai adheres to regulatory requirements for AI and is using tools for "fair and unbias" AI. It also established the Artificial Intelligence Council, which brings together leaders across departments to develop, guide and coordinate the AI strategy.

"The AI journey doesn't have a finish line, and we must keep our eyes on the road ahead," said Mike Thompson, vice president of enterprise data intelligence for Cedars Sinai, in a news release. "We are building a strong foundation for the future of limitless possibilities."
