The initiative, called Project ENABLE — Extensible Network-Accessible Biomedical & Health Informatics Lifelong Learning Environment — will offer online and in-person training to undergraduates lacking access to biomedical and health informatics training, specifically minority undergraduate students from historically black colleges and universities.

Project ENABLE will be funded through a three-year, $1.6 million grant from the United Health Foundation. Funding will support the creation of in-person summer boot camps for minority undergraduate students, slated to begin this summer, and the development of online health informatics course content.
