New precision medicine initiative focuses on complex neurological diseases

RowAnalytics, Charlestown, Mass.-based Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging and Envision Genomics created a new, open initiative in precision medicine called Giro Health.

Giro Health aims to further research into complex neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia and Parkinson's disease, as well as improve diagnosis and personalized treatment options. The initiative will combine clinical genomics, multimodal imaging and combinatorial data analytics. It will also focus on developing patient stratification and clinical decision support systems and creating patient-focused tools.

The initiative's reference architecture will be built on IBM's current and future power systems.

"Giro Health will bring together, for the first time, all the components needed to deliver the benefits of precision medicine at scale for complex diseases," said Steve Gardner, CEO of RowAnalytics.
