Virginia hospital notifies patients of data breach

Richmond, Va.-based Henrico Doctors' Hospital is notifying 990 patients that some of their protected health information was compromised in a data breach.

The health system detected suspicious activity within its information network and launched an investigation into the incident, according to a March 3 notification from consumer rights law firm Cole & Van Note.

Through the investigation, Henrico learned that an unauthorized party had removed or viewed files, containing patient information, from its computer systems.

The notice did not mention what kind of data was in the files.

Henrico Doctors' Hospital said it is notifying all affected individuals.
