Trump fills key DHS CIO post with acting DoD CIO

John Zangardi, PhD, will transition from acting CIO at the Department of Defense to CIO at the Department of Homeland Security, the White House announced Oct. 26.

Dr. Zangardi has experience in IT acquisition, policy, legislative affairs, resourcing and operations, having also served as the principal deputy DoD CIO.

He will replace Richard Staropoli, who resigned in August after three months on the job. The DHS will also be without a chief technology officer, as Rob Palmer announced this week he will be leaving the agency for a position in the private sector.
