The more than 20 boxes of medical records from Today’s Vision, an optometrist group, date from 1997 to 2013. Patient information that may have been exposed includes names, phone numbers, addresses, bank and insurance statements, and Social Security numbers.
The Today’s Vision location involved in the data breach (Willowbrook, Texas) is located several miles away from the dumpster where the medical records were found.
A manager at the Willowbrook location said medical records are typically shredded, KPRC reports.
