There were 748,883 patients affected in hacking or IT incidents reported to the HHS Office for Civil Rights in May, marking the month as the most dangerous for healthcare hacks so far in 2018.

Here's how many patients were affected in hacking or IT incidents at healthcare providers, plans or clearinghouses for each month of 2018, according to the OCR's breach portal. The month listed refers to when the incident was submitted to the civil rights office.

January: 452,608

February: 153,439

March: 137,047

April: 179,065

May: 748,883

June: 323,392
