Tallahassee hospital says patient information breached during February cyberattack

Tallahassee (Fla.) Memorial HealthCare, which suffered an IT security incident in February, said the attack has compromised patients' Social Security numbers, as well as treatment information.

On Feb. 3, the health system detected suspicious activity on its computer systems and launched an investigation.

They determined an unauthorized person had access to its computer networks and copied files from it between Jan. 26 and Feb. 2.

Patient information compromised in the breach include: Social Security numbers, some treatment information, dates of birth, health insurance information, medical record numbers and patient account numbers, according to a March 31 breach notification from Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.

The health system did not mention how many patients were affected, but said no financial information was breached as part of the attack.

This comes shortly after Moody's determined that Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare would be "credit negative" due to the cybersecurity incident.
