Respondents comprised 9,500-plus CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, chief information security officers, chief security officers, vice presidents and directors of IT and security practices from more than 122 countries.
Here are the titles respondents cited when asked to identify to whom the CISO, CSO or equivalent senior information security executive directly reports to.
1. CEO: 40 percent
2. Board of directors: 27 percent
3. CIO: 24 percent
4. CSO: 17 percent
5. Chief privacy officer: 15 percent
