Prospect Medical making progress in restoring systems after ransomware attack

Culver City, Calif.-based Prospect Medical Holdings said it has made progress in restoring critical systems that were taken offline due to a ransomware attack that started Aug. 3, ABC News reported Aug. 18. 

In an Aug. 18 statement, Prospect said progress has been made "to recover critical systems and restore their integrity." 

The hospital operator could not give a timeline as to when its operations might return to normal. 

"We do not yet have a definitive timeline for how long it will be before all of our systems are restored." Nina Kruse, a spokesperson for Prospect, told the publication. "The forensic investigation is still underway and we are working closely with law enforcement officials."

The attack has affected hospitals in multiple states.
