Prospect Medical Holdings still reeling from cybersecurity incident

Prospect Medical Holdings, a 16-hospital system based in Culver City, Calif., and its hospitals are still feeling the effects of a cybersecurity incident that took place Aug. 3, The Record reported Aug. 9.

As of Aug. 10, the health system's website says it's still experiencing a "systemwide outage."

Waterbury (Conn.) Hospital, an affiliate of Prospect, posted on Facebook Aug. 8, stating that its computer systems "continue to be down throughout the network due to a data security incident."

Waterbury has been resorting to paper records while systems are down, and has had to cancel outpatient services such as diagnostic imaging and blood draws due to the incident.

Prospect Medical Holdings told the publication it does not know when the incident will be resolved.

"We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and regret any inconvenience," the organization said.
