Ransomware group Hive reportedly claimed responsibility for the March 19 cyberattack against Partnership HealthPlan of California, compromising medical records and personal information, including Social Security and driver’s license numbers.
The May 5 complaint, which seeks class-action status, alleges the health plan failed to adequately protect its patients’ information in what would be the second-largest U.S. health plan data breach of the past two years.
Partnership HealthPlan started notifying affected patients May 18. The organization did not respond to requests from Becker’s for comment.
