For the IT leadership survey, Harvey Nash and KPMG asked nearly 4,000 CIOs and technology leaders across 84 countries about their attitudes toward various aspects of their careers, including budget, technology and workforce priorities.
Here are five of the top business issues various company boards are looking to IT to address, ranked by percent increase since 2017:
1. Improving cybersecurity (49 percent of CIOs cited this as a key business issue among boards in 2018): Up 23 percent since 2017
2. Managing operational risk and compliance (38 percent): 12 percent
3. Improving business processes (62 percent): 5 percent
4. Developing innovative new products and services (53 percent): 4 percent
5. Delivering business intelligence/analytics (48 percent): 4 percent
