The clinic’s staff temporarily lost access to its computer system during the breach, which officials believe was the result of a ransomware attack, IFHS Executive Director James Kaech told KUCB Local News. However, he said the clinic has not discovered evidence patient information was stolen.

“Currently, it doesn’t look like there was any HIPAA breach,” he told KUCB Local News. “It was just a system breach.”

IFHS officials hired the insurance company Beazley to investigate the incident. Mr. Kaech added a HIPAA attorney will review the results of the investigation. The final report will be made public, Mr. Kaech said.
