UnitedHealth CEO and CFO see drop in total compensation

UnitedHealth Group CEO Stephen Hemsley and the ‎Minnetonka, Minn.-based company’s President and CFO David Wichmann saw their base salaries rise and total compensation fall in 2015.

Mr. Hemsley’s base salary grew to $1.35 million in 2015, up from $1.3 million the year prior, according to a recent Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

However, the value of his total compensation package fell to $14.5 million in 2015, down from $14.9 million in 2014. The largest component of his compensation package in 2015 was $7 million of stock awards, which was down from $7.5 million the year prior.

Mr. Wichmann’s base salary increased to $1.15 million in 2015, up from $900,000 the year prior. The value of his compensation package fell to $11.6 million in 2015, down from $12.1 million in 2014. Like Mr. Hemsley, stock awards made up the largest portion of Mr. Wichmann’s compensation package in 2015.
