The average signing bonus for nurse practitioners and physician assistants is $8,355, down 7 percent from $9,000 last year, according to the report.
Hospitals and medical groups use signing bonuses as a recruiting incentive and to provide an added impetus for physicians who may be considering multiple opportunities. They can serve as an immediate monetary reward that can distinguish one opportunity from another.
