WellPoint CEO’s Compensation Dips Slightly From 2010

Angela Braly, president and CEO of health insurer WellPoint, earned roughly $13.26 million in total compensation in 2011, roughly $200,000 less than she made in 2010, according to documents from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ms. Braly’s base salary has held steady at $1.14 million in each of the past three years. She earned $10 million in stock and option awards and $1.86 million in incentives and bonuses in 2011.

WellPoint’s net income fell 8.3 percent last year, from $2.89 billion in 2010 to $2.65 in 2011. UnitedHealthcare also surpassed WellPoint as the largest health insurer based on enrollment.
