Employed physicians tend to be paid under three main salary arrangements, according to the Medscape Employed Physicians Report 2014.

Two transactions made by Franklin, Tenn.-based IASIS Healthcare last year led the company to distribute more than $2.5 million in one-time cash bonuses to five top executives, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Fewer physicians were offered signing bonuses in 2013 than in 2012, and the amount has also declined, according to physician placement data from The Medicus Firm.
