The state house bill, passed by a more than 2-to-1 majority last week, goes one step further than rejecting the 2010 healthcare law: It makes any attempt to enforce the Affordable Care Act in the state of Missouri a crime.
“No public officer or employee of this state has any authority to enforce or attempt to enforce any aspect of the act,” reads a summary of the bill posted on the Missouri General Assembly’s website. “Any United States official, agent or employee who undertakes any action within this state that enforces or attempts to enforce the act in violation of these provisions will be guilty of a class A misdemeanor.”
The bill moves to the Missouri senate for another vote.
